Welcome

Welcome to Kiiminkijoki River, to be amidst the natural environs and the frothing roar of the rapids. Kiiminkijoki River flows across the middle of Finland's pleasant realm from the hilly landscapes of Kainuu to the Gulf of Bothnia and Bothnian Bay The highest peaks are near Finland's highest natural waterfall near Hepoköngäs at Puolanka.

A very different sort of scenery is found at the lower course of the river at its estuary in Haukipudas. Intermittently the river flows across the regions of Utajärvi, Ylikiiminki and Kiiminki. The vistas vary from the wilderness section to northern rural landscapes.

These webpages have been made for all of you who are interested in canoe trekking, sport fishing and hiking in the great outdoors in general! The Kiiminkijoki River is a safe, easily accessible destination offering a comprehensive network of recreational spots and fine tourist services.

In the years to come, developmental work on behalf of the river shall be taken forward in unison by the area's municipalities, the Kiiminkijoki River Fishing Area, the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute, and other interests acting in cooperation with each other. Our goal is that the Kiiminkijoki River becomes an even more pleasant destination where one may engage in active hobbies and spend time.
